Patrick started going to the library, reading books, and doing all his chores with a smile on his face. The elf had changed Patrick and his attitude completely.

When I was in Class V, my teacher asked me to recite a poem on the stage for next day’s assembly. I was really scared of going up on the stage and speaking in front of so many people. I was sitting all alone during lunch, when my English teacher saw how nervous I was. I told her the reason for it.

She told me to imagine that all the people in the audience were my family and friends, and that there is no need to be scared of them. She convinced me that I would be able to do it. The next say, even though I was really nervous, I went to the stage thinking that the audience members are all my family and friends. I recited the poem so confidently, and without getting stuck. Everybody clapped for me, and all my teachers praised me.

Answer:
One day Patrick found his cat playing with a doll;
But it turned out to be an elf who was exceedingly small.
Patrick saved the elf in lieu of getting a wish;
He could fly; ask all whys; or become very rich.
But Patrick was a kid who hated his homework;
“Little elf, you will do all my homework,” he said with a huge smirk.
The elf was happy to hear this and more;
But homework is not easy; and seemed like such a chore.
He was such a nag and asked questions all day;

Answer
The cartoon shows a boy who is reading up on the laws against child labour
instead of doing his homework. Yes, the cartoon is funny as it fairly captures the attitude that most children have on homework in a creative manner. Most of the students consider it to be an additional burden after spending so many hours at school.

However, the cartoon is not equating homework with child labour, but is merely bringing out how children perceive the world, and think of homework as an act of cruelty towards them. The truth is that due to the increasing competition, the students are being burdened with a lot of homework, so much so that it often leads to depression among students.

Yes, cartoons are serious drawings and most often highlight a social issue using comedy and humour as their vehicles. In fact, most cartoons use humour to emphasize important social issues. They are tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic drawings that help us see realities that we often ignore.
