Rao do enough to question witnesses and compile evidence before arresting Shanti and filing a case against her? In keeping with the duties of the police as stated above, what else do you think S.I. Rao could have done as part of his investigation?<br \/>\nAnswer:<br \/>\n(a) The detention of Shanti\u2019s brother had violated the D.K. Basu guidelines and it was not legal.<\/p>\n<p>(b) No, S.I. Rao did not do enough to question witness and compile evidence before arresting Shanti and filing a case against her.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation always includes recording of statements of witnesses and correcting different kinds of evidence on the basis of investigation and only after that the police are required to form an opinion.
