To protect Muslim minority and to create confidence among Muslims Pt. Nehru favoured secularism. Pt. Nehru was a staunch secularist. To protect the rights of Muslims India was declared a secular state. There was no prudential reason rather there was only ethical and sentimental reason.<\/p>\n
