Chapter 1 Number System
Chapter 1 of Class 9 Maths deals with the topics like rational and irrational numbers. It even explains the concept of the number lines and how to represent various numbers on them. Chapter 5 Introduction to Euclid’s Geometry
Ch 5 deals with Euclid’s Approach to Geometry and links it with Present Day Geometry. Euclid’s Geometry tells students about methods to define the common geometrical shapes and terms. Topics of Axioms, Postulates, and Other Theorems are discussed on a deeper level.
Chapter 6 Lines and Angles
Chapter 6 of NCERT Class 9 Maths Textbook is all about theorems in Lines and Angles. A Total of 4 Axioms and 8 Theorems are covered in this chapter. You are asked to prove statements given in the questions.

Chapter 10 Circles
A circle is defined as a collection of all points in a plane at a fixed distance from a fixed point in the plane. We will discuss topics like Angle Subtended by a Chord at a Point, Equal Chords and their respective distances from the Centre, Cyclic Quadrilaterals, the Angle Subtended by an Arc of a Circle, Terms Related to Circles, etc.
Chapter 11 Constructions
In chapter 11 you will come across basic constructions, and how to construct triangles using the methods learnt. We will further discuss the construction of a certain angle or bisector of a given angle, construction of triangles given different parameters.
Chapter 12 Heron’s Formula
Ch 12 deals with Heron’s Formula for Calculating Area of Triangle given length of all 3 sides. You can use the same formula to find the area of quadrilaterals and polygons by splitting them into triangles. The 2 Exercises in the chapter help students to understand the methods of solving problems based on Heron’s Formula.
Chapter 13 Surface Areas and Volumes
Students will come across topics like finding surface areas and volumes of cuboids and cylinders along with other solids like cones and spheres. It is an extended version of chapter mensuration that you came across in your earlier classes. Ch 13 has problems with surface areas and volumes of various solids like cubes, cuboids, spheres, cylinders, cones, hemispheres, etc.
